Description

This vintage volume is ''Rotary Clubs, 690th District -- Georgia, 1957'' edited and published in 1959 by Publications Inc. in Atlanta, Ga.
Contents include a biography of Rotary founder Paul P. Harris; a profile of the organization by Look magazine staff writer Jack Star; a history of Rotary in Georgia; a history of district 240 (later 690 and now 6900) from 1913 to 1956; a list of clubs in the district with the year chartered and the sponsoring club; and 162 pages of biographical sketches and photographs of members of various clubs in the western part of the state -- Americus, Austell, Bainbridge, Barnesville, Blakely, Bremen, Brookwood, Buckhead, Cairo, Calhoun, Camilla, Canton, Carrollton, Cartersville, Cordele, Cuthbert, Dalton, Dawson, Decatur, East Point, Griffin, LaFayette, LaGrange, Marietta, Moultrie, Newnan, Pelham, Quitman, Ringgold, Rockmart, Rome, Roswell, Summerville-Trion, Thomasville, Warm Springs, Warner Robins, West End and West Point. In 1991-1992, district 690 became 6900, one of three Rotary districts in Georgia.
The hardcover volume measures 9 1/4 by 12 inches and contains 170 pages. The boards are dark blue cloth with gilt lettering and the Rotary emblem on the front. The boards show some age wear and some splotches of what appears to be white paint on the front. There is a bit of foxing to the endpapers, but otherwise the volume is in good shape.
